How do I speed up and smooth scrolling

M

Millfield

I am using Office proffessional XP 2003 (I think!)

When scrolling in word and excel (text only - no graphics etc) using the
scroll bar arrows on the right, the document moves up or down one line at a
time and has a ripple affect on all the text above - the next line does not
appear untill the ripple affect has gone all the way up the screen - taking
for ever to scroll through even short documents.

Using the mouse wheel is OK but there is still the ripple affect.

Whats going on?

You either have Office Professional XP or you have Office Professional 2003.

Check your Control Panel for your mouse settings.

The graphics adapter and driver have a lot to do with it. Low end
equipment or incorrect drivers will be to blame. Correct drivers can be
downloaded from the adapter manufacturers web site and installed. As for
"low end hardware" either upgrade it or reduce resolution and or color
depth to reduce the load on it.

I would just like to say thanks to Bob for his driver idea. I had this issue
and it was killing me because everything else was fast, but scrolling was
slow. Once I updated to the correct driver, it works wonderfully.
