How do I speed up keyboard response?

In Word 2003, I held down the space bar and the dialogue box appeared re;
FilterKeys, and I pressed the answer that caused my keyboard stroke to not
register until about a second of being held down. How do I go back to the
original setting?

In Windows, click on Start | Control Panel | Accessibility Options |
Keyboard tab | uncheck the "Use FilterKeys" box | OK.
