How do I 'spring clean' outlook.pst?

Hi,

We have just migrated from Outlook XP to Outlook 2003 (Windows XP
Professional) and have been having a few problems with Export.

When we try to export from a Contacts subfolder to a .pst file we keep
getting the following error message: "Personal Folder Password / Type
the password for 'folder name' ". Only problem is there are no
passwords set so we are stuck!

Is there an outlook.pst 'clean & fix' utility or similar or else how do
I go about creating a new 'clean' outlook.pst and then transfering in
all the old stuff (of which there is rather a lot of different folders
and types).

Suggestions or any other ideas would be very much appreciated,

Many thanks, Stefan

why are you exporting? Just drag and drop to the other pst (open both using
File, open, outlook data file)

Why are you exporting? Never export to a PST.
Is there an outlook.pst 'clean & fix' utility or similar or else how
do I go about creating a new 'clean' outlook.pst and then transfering

folders and types).

Create a new PST with File>New>Outlook Data File. Select "Office Outlook
Personal Folders File (.pst)" and click OK. Browse to the folder where you
want it (or accept the default), give it a name (or accept the default) and
click OK. After the PST appears in your Folder List, make the new PST your
delivery location with the "Deliver new e-mail to the following location"
drop-down on Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Stop and restart Outlook. Now,
drag-and-drop from the old PST to the new. You will be able to
drag-and-drop entire folders if they're not the default folders, but for the
default folders, you'll need to open the individual folders and move or copy
items.
