How do I stop cursor from automatically triggering next page?

As I dictate using Dragon Dictate Version 9 into WORD periodically and
without warning my cursor (arrow) goes to the small box at the right hand
side of the page. This triggers the flashing vertical bar (where lettering
is entered on to the page) to rise to the beginning of the page being typed.
Very aggravating. I use a Gyration flying mouse which may be part of the
problem.

Actually I am not sure which is the cursor...the arrow or the flashing bar.

I'm not sure what the 'technocratically correct' definitions are, but what I
learned to call a 'cursor' doesn't even exist any more That was a
blinking box that seemed like a lighthouse beacon. If there is a modern
counterpart it would be the "flashing bar" you refer to also a.k.a.
"insertion point" or "insertion bar", whereas the "arrow" is the "pointer".
The catch there is that it doesn't always look like an arrow.

Any way - 2 thoughts re your erratic pointer behavior;

I've never used the Gyration rodents family although I know of the line. Not
being familiar with which model you have (I don't know of a "flying"), but
with any *optical* mouse you have to be particularly careful of the surface
on which it is used. It can't be textured in any way, nor can it be
multi-colored. Either will most certainly cause that type of random
run-a-way behavior just based on vibration when the furnace kicks on or
whatever. The more precise the device, the more the surface matters. Also,
if the surface is particularly slick but not exactly level similar mishaps
can occur.

Secondly - and less likely - is if the computer has a touchpad that remains
active even though an external mouse is attached. Dangly bracelets, shirt
cuffs, etc. lightly dragging on the pas will drive you mad as well.
