how do I stop my laptop keyboard using shortcuts in Word?

I've got a Toshiba satellite laptop and every time I type <shift> 'a' to get
a capital 'A' in Word it types the
A but starts me on a new line (just like it did then!). How do I tell it to
stop starting a new line?

Does this happen in all programs? (Since you're posting through your
browser, it obviously isn't just in Word.) If so, you probably have a
hardware problem in your keyboard.
