How do I stop Outlook double spacing carriage returns?

How do I stop Outlook annoyingly & apparently randomly starting to double
space carriage returns (line feeds) when composing email messages. I suspect
it is an accidental multi-key combination key stroke that starts this (i.e.
finger trouble) but how is this 'feature' turned off?

Anyone know?
