I am very new at FrontPage and am quite the noob at it hehe. I was posting
some items on our website and now everytime I download a document from the
website a pop up box asking me to login appears! I am not sure what I did
but am hopeing someone might be so kind to help me fix it :).

What type of document? MS Word?
What *exact* version of MS word are you using, including service releases,
service packs?

Hi Tom! I am using Word 2003 SP2, not sure about service releases sorry! It
is so weird, I just put the hyperlink to the word file and publish it. Not
sure what happened :(.

Ok, the site is www.wsrmp.org , can click on forms>Certificate request
form>open> and then when you close it thats when the login window pops up. I
really appreciate you looking into this so fast! :)

Opens and closes just fine for me - no login box. Try it on a different
PC. It might be some setting on your machine.

When I click on the link, it doesn't ask me to login at all.
It asks if I want to open the file, or download it to my hard drive.

In my experience, the only way to stop this on your PC is to go to My
Network Places and delete the entry for your web site from the list. But,
the next time you publish to that site, the entry will come back., and so
will the log in prompt. But this will only happen on your PC, it won't
happen to your web site visitors, unless they are running Office 2000:
OFF2000: You Are Prompted for a Password When You Open an Office Document in
a Browser (Q225234):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q225234

and here is the link to download Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1a
(SR-1a) which will fix the problem for Office 2000 users:

an OT suggestion;

When a user of your site attempts to fill in a word doc form it will mess up
the formatting. I'd suggest outputting your form to a pdf creator (full
Acrobat, not just the reader) then create a fillable form out of the
document...instead of using a word doc use the fillable pdf form.

It might be if you make changes to the word file and try to close/save it -
it's trying to save *back to the server* therefore prompting for logon to
the server, for which only the site owner would know the logon details.

Therefore general users can't change the document and save it to the server.
