How do i stop receiving my emails 6-8 times each?

I have outlook express as default for my emails. i have wireless broadband
account that sends my emails on it is a pop3. i log onto my laptop every
couple of days and every time i open outlook i get multiple emails. no spam
or junk ones just 6-8 copies (sent by friends) are received to my inbox. How
can i stop the duplicates? I only need one of each!!!!!

Note that this is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.
