how do I stop 'sending messages 1 of...' for msgs already sent?

At the bottom of outlook, there is the progress message which states 'sending
message 1 of...'. In my case is says sending message 1 of 19. How do I stop
this. The messages it is trying to send relate to a reduntant e-mail account.

Work offline and delete the outgoing message.

Perhaps they are undelivered read receipts. See if this helps:
