Use Windows search to find the template normal.dot - right click, rename,
erase old extension and replace with .old. Or just delete it. I prefer
renaming so if that is not the problem, I don't have to recreate it, just
rename it back to .dot.

||| When I write a new Outlook e-mail message the small cap button comes
||| on the formatting toolbar and the text is in small caps [unless I

I have the same problem. I searched on ''normal.dot'' & got one hit in 'my documents' file. I rename the file to xcxc.old. Still the same problem. Please help because the people I email to, come back with 'stop shouting' & I try explain that I type in lower case. When I go to font the ''small caps'' is always checked. allen
