How do I stop Word from crashing when inserting a symbol?

Whenever I go to Insert> Symbol, Word crashes. Is there a fix for this?

Most frequently is caused by a bad printer driver - though sometimes the
font may be damaged. Try checking on the Internet support site for the
printer manufacturer to see that you have the latest driver. Then delete the
printer and reinstall either the new driver - if available - or the current
driver and test again.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I tried doing that and it didn't
help. Any further ideas?

We have a similar problem, at random when inserting from eg. IE Word crashes.
But if the user uses Insert -> Special and remove the formatting it's okay.

Havu you come up with any solution?

You are talking about pasting (there is no Special on the Insert menu),
which is an entirely different situation from using Insert | Symbol.

I know - but I hoped that if there was a solution to the problem I would know
where to start looking for where the problem originated from.

Regarding the Insert - I'm using a danish version af MS Office, so I was
guessing, hence I don't know what's calling in the english version.
