How do I sub-total by multiple criteria in Excel?

It appears that XP has a problem with multiple sub-totals. I've used this
feature in previous versions without a problem, but does not work correctly
now that I've upgraded to XP. I use spreadsheets with 13,000 lines and sort
by account and then by class. I subtotal by account then by class and should
be able to collapse the subtotals by a total for each class within each
account. Doesn't work now.
