How do I switch from Outlook 2007 back to Outlook Express?

I recently updated computers --going from XP to Vista-- and installed
Microsoft Office Standard 2007 just 2 days ago. Not only am I a "just the
basics" user--mostly just emails, documents, internet and very little tech
understanding --I've never had Office before. My husband uses Outlook (2003?)
at work, loves it and suggested I switch to Outlook. Outlook Express has
worked great for me, but I must have thought I was missing out, so I
switched.

I'm frustrated with Outlook and want out; maybe after some devoted attention
I could learn, but I don't have that much time now. I'm still getting use to
Vista, and I'm incredibly frustrated that I have had emails in my outbox for
over 36 hours that will not send. I've gone through Outlook Help, but it
doesn't tell how to go from Outlook to Outlook Express, only vice versa. I'm
stuck and frustrated, and I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks so
much!

You won't be going to Outlook Express on your Vista machine in any case, OE
will not run under Vista and was replaced by Windows Mail. Going to Windows
Mail is fairly simple using the 'File|Import' section in Windows Mail.

But I was already using OE with Vista--since we set up the new computer 3
weeks ago. After I installed Office Monday I imported all my OE files to
Outlook. Are you saying there's no way to go back?
Maybe you could tell me how to get my messages sent from the outbox? Or
should I re-post that as a new question?

Windows Mail (WM) is very much like Outlook Express (OE):

If you know OE, WM shouldn't be a problem to figure out. However, it
appears WM is going to get replaced by Windows Live Mail (WLM):

Just be sure to deselect all the other "fluff" that they want you to
download and the attempt to change your home and search pages and just
get WLM, unless you want the other fluff and/or changes.

You might as well as switch to WM or WLM rather than try to continue
using OE (which must've gotten there because you did an upgrade instead
of a fresh install). For example of many, Microsoft is going to dump
WebDAV access to all Hotmail accounts in June 2008. WebDAV is the old
scripting language used by Outlook and Outlook Express to communicate to
Hotmail's HTTP mail hosts. Microsoft has been moving to DeltaSync as
their new protocol. You can use WM and WLM with POP3 access to Hotmail
but only if you pay for the Plus version of Hotmail; otherwise, you will
need the new DeltaSync protocol supported in WM and WLM to use your
freebie Hotmail account.

Nope, you were using Windows Mail, the "next version" of Outlook Express.
As I said OE does not run on Vista at all. As to messages not leaving the
Outbox, do you get any error messages? Does a 'Tools|Send/Receive|Send All'
do anything?
