How do I switch off "reveal codes" in an Outlook 2007 email?

I was writing an email and mistakenly switched on what I think is a "reveal
codes" view. This means that symbols appear in the body of the email, for
example at the end of each line. I want to turn this view off, but can't find
out how to do this in Outlook 2007. Searching the Help facility against
"reveal codes" did not help. Can anyone please assist?

Open a message. Office button, Editor Options, Display

Press Ctrl+Shift+8 to toggle them off and on.
