How do I transfer Office 2003 Product Activation to a new PC?

I have Office 2003 Pro (retail purchased) installed on my current, old PC.
This PC is dying and I've purchased a new one. I want to install my purchased
Office 2003 on the new PC, and wipe the hard drive on the old PC (thus
deleting the old installation). However, because of Product Activation, I
will not be able to activate the program on the new PC. I've spent hours
searching MS Knowledge Base about this, but I haven't found one article
addressing this. I can't believe I'm the only paying customer who has
encountered this annoyance. Thanks.

Hi Joe,

If it's a retail (rather than an OEM/preinstall) version of MS Office 2003 there isn't a 'deactivate' feature. If you are not able
to complete the online Activation then you may want to choose the telephone activation method to speak to an activation specialist
(if the 'autoprompt' phone system alone doesn't get you going again.
