How do I trouble shoot an Excel query error?

Does anyone have a fix to the following error message I receive when trying
to creat a new database inquiry in Excel?

Connection failed:
SQLState: ‘01000’
SQL Server Error: 53
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes] Connection Open
(CreateFile()).
Connect failed:
SQLState: ‘08001’
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes] Specified SQL server not
found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
