How do I troubleshoot closing and saving in word 2007?

Word 2007 Issues

I am having a problem with Word 2007. Whenever I try to save or close the
application, it would freeze and I would have to try and close it. That's
when a screen appears with 3 options, 1) Restart program, 2) Close program,
or 3) Wait for program to respond. What should I do to resolve the issue?

Does Word work correctly in Safe mode (hold Ctrl as you start the
application)?

I had the same problem and Word did work correctly in Safe mode. Since I know
this, how can I fix Word so that I do not always have to start it in Safe
mode? Thanks for your help!
