How do I turn off "typing" function that deletes some of my text

I am using MS Word 2003. I learned to type on an electric typewriter and
sometimes when I'm typing fast the curser reverts back to a line I just typed
and deletes all or part of my sentence. When I undo this (EDIT UNDO) the
message is UNDO TYPING. I just want to turn this function off

Sounds like you are hitting the Home button which sends the cursor to the
start of the line and also you are in Overtype mode, see an OVR at the bottom
of the Word window, either click this twice or press the Insert button (which
you are probably hitting as you type as well).
Best of luck

Most likely you perhaps accidently while use the backspace key pressed
the insert key. Press the insert key and your problem should be over.
You can also check on your Status Bar if OVR is highlighted or black and
click on it with the mouse to disable (grey) it.
