How do I turn on AutoResolution in Outlook 2003?

I suspect this has been asked before, but I can't find an answer. I have a
friend who is not computer literate. She previously had AutoResolution in
Outlook and wants it back. Advance Email Options doesn't offer the option
Suggest Names for To, CC, or BC.

Can you point me to a reference that explains what to do?

AutoResolution is controlled by the "Automatic name checking" box and
AutoCompletion is controlled by the box labeled "Suggest names while
completing To, Cc, or Bcc fields". Which feature do you want?
Autoresolution is the feature by which if you type at least three characters
of a contact's name and then tab out of the field, Outlook will perform a
Check Names function and try to resolve the name with the address book
service. AutoCompletion is the feature by which Outlook will remember
addresses youi've previously resolved and present them to you when you begin
typing in one of the recipient fields.

2003. I've had her check and uncheck both the boxes you mentioned (at
different times). Nothing seems to make it work so she can type the first
three characters of the first name and get the name from the Contact.

If she has Outlook 2000, then she does have autoresolution, but the
autocompletion feature doesn't exist in that version so there's no way in
the world your statement above can be true.

After typing the first three characters, she can either tab out of the
field, press CTRL-K, or click Check Names. If she has her Outlook Address
Book configured correctly, this will work.
