How do I turn on Paste Special OLE Options

Using Office 2000 and WINXP. Paste special between an excel chart and either powerpoint or word does not allow the object to be pasted as as an object only as a graphic. I need the chart to update dynamically. This worked fine under WIN98. How do I turn on the OLE paste special options?
