how do i uninstall/reinstall xp

the we received this laptop as a gift from a friend, most of her stuff is
gone but she is still listed as owner,her files still hold her name i have
updated thinking it would go into my name, i am the administer
i need directions on how to uninstall xp, and reinstall, and put all our
info on
