How do I unlock a database cause Error 3197 in Access 2003?

Rachel

Hi

I am trying to open an Access 2003 Database. It is giving me Error 3197 so
I cannot open it. Compact and Repair gives the same error message.

Is there a way of retrieving the data otherwise? I've tried Excel but I'm
not sure of the procedure.

Can someone help?

Thanks

AIUI this error should only occur when data is being accessed. Have you
tried holding the shift key when you open it to bypass any startup options?

Hi Keith

Yeah I've tried to open it using the Shift key, importing the data into a
new database but it keeps giving me the same error. starting to think that
the data is corrupted.

Any ideas before I give up?

Rachel,

Are you saying that the error occurs when you try to open the app or when
you try to open a table? Can you actually access the db window?

Keith.

Hi Keith

I'm getting this error when trying to access the app. So no I can't access
the table/ form etc. interface

How likely is it that someone might have set the AllowBypassKey property to
False and that some code or a macro is running on startup that accesses
data, whether or not you hold the shift key down?

Keith.
