How do I unlock files through Windows Explorer?

We are trying to open some picture files, and are given the message that we
need to use the properties command in Windows Explorer. Where is Windows
Explorer and how do we use this?

We have Windows XP. The pictures were saved as .PDF's, JPEG's, and the
original Adobe Photoshop .PSD file. Other than the person who created the
file, no one else is able to open it.

If anyone has any ideas that would be appreciated. The only thing we get
from a google search is that we need to download some program.

www.irfanview.com will open Photoshop .psd files as well as the .jpg. You may
need the plug-ins. This is a free program.

Of course you can open PDF files in the Acrobat reader.
