How do I unlock Microsoft Office 2007?

When I go to type something in a new Word Document, it won't allow me. It
says "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked." I
don't know how it locked in the first place. How do I go about unlocking it?

Trial version of Office expired or full version not activated?

Note that if a trial version is installed and you want to upgrade to the
full version, it's best to uninstall the trial version before installing the
full.
