How do I upgrade to Office 2007?

JUST TODAY I bought and installed Microsoft Office Standard Student and
Teacher Edition 2003. As soon as I installed, I found out there's an Office
2007! Can I upgrade online or should I just go back to the store and HOPE
they'll exchange my opened software for the 2007 edition of Office??

Just go back and try and exchange it for the 2007. Hopefully it is still good to do this since you just bought it today. Also depends on the stores policy on returns for software. And No , you cannot Update it per say over the Internet the Office 2003.

its shelves wit h the updated version available.

You may qualify for the Office 2007 Technology guarantee program as an alternative to returning the software you have.

The Office 2007 Home & Student edition does not include MS Office Outlook, but rather MS Office OneNote.

i purchased my student office 2003 in march online with microsoft b/c the
trial 2003 was in the computer..(new computer) .i did not know they were out
with 2007. it is the same price...why did they send me 2003? Shouldn't I
qualify for tech guarantee since it was purchased in March of 07???

I think your March purchase date was too late. Here's the criteria:

"You are eligible if you purchased a Microsoft Office 2003 boxed product
from a retailer or authorized reseller between October 26, 2006 and February
28, 2007, and your redemption materials are postmarked by March 31, 2007.
Please allow 4-6 weeks (timing pending inventory availability) for delivery
following general availability for customers."

Don't think you qualify. If you attempt to redeem you'll likely get the
"This offer has ended. No more orders can be placed. " message from MS.
