how do I use Network AutoDiscovery in Visio 2002?

I have Visio 2002 and can go into AutoDiscovery and run the Wizard, select
routers, etc to discover, use the public SNMP strings for parameters, point
it to my gateway and it does the 'testing for connectivity to the seed
router' and then it tells me that the SNMP request could not be maide to the
Starting Router and asks if I want to continue with Discovery. I continue
and add some more info then the Discovery Monitor-ADL comes up. It seems to
go thru the steps of discovering devices, searching for routers etc then I
get the Assistant with the 'Discover your network' telling me that I need to
run the AutoDiscovery feature before I can diagram my network so I am back
where I started.

Am I missing a step? I have Windows 2003 with AD and about 15 servers and
200 PCs but it does not seem to see any of that.

TIA, Larry

the first part of the discovery process is a tool (AutoDiscovery in Visio
works)
the second part is being able to forward the messages (make sure no
firewalls are set, snmp is configured properly and active, icmp is not
filtered)
the third part is even though snmp is available in many ms products, the
default is not to install it or turn it on.

check msdn for autodiscovery there were a couple of articles there.
