How do make a formula in access for a report.

Puzzled Accounts Shell

I am using the template - inventory control as an example and on this report
it is able to calculate the number of stock left and ordering, receiving and
sales. I want to be able to do that in my own report. I have the categories
ordering amount, received amount and sold. Can any one help me by example
how I go about having the stock left for my database. Using the inventory
control template onlien for example but am unable to see how it is calculated
