Active X- MS says not to use yet require

How do we get updates without installing active X. MS suggest not allowing
active x, then requires we have it. Insane!!

Set up your system to only allow the activeX files to be installed by an
administrator who can verify that they are safe. Allow everything to be used
that is installed. Do not run your machines as administrator.

Microsoft's suggestion is for non-network computers, or for networks without
an experienced admin. ActiveX controls are perfectly safe if coming from a
known safe source. By educating (or prohibiting) your users from installing
anything they find on the Internet you will protect them just as well.
