how do you accomplish a trim ?

Hi there - this is my first post. I am using Visio 4.1 to do some
drawings for a web page I'm doing, and I am having a problem with the
trim command. I am trying to draw maybe 40 degrees of a circle. I have
tried to do as the help file suggests, which is draw the circle, draw
two lines intersecting it (where it is to be cut), and highlighting all
three. Nothing happens. Obviously I'm missing some simple step, but
there's no one where I am to ask, so, can anyone help with this ? I
also tried doing this with the fragment command, and no dice there
either.

Select the circle and two intersecting lines and choose Fragment from the
Operations menu.
