Hi,

I want to change the background colour on Word. I've tried Word > Preferences > General and there is an option called 'background repaintation' which sounds about right but it is greyed out!

Help!

You mean the background color of the Print Layout window, the gray-blue
that surrounds the white page? Sorry, no way to change that (although
you can in Notebook Layout and Publishing Layout view)

Use Help | Send Feedback in Word to let MS know you'd like that
option--it's gotten a few requests already.

Background repagination is totally unrelated.

Sorry kt -

Background Repagination has nothing to do with background color scheme & is
only operational when in Normal/Draft or Outline View. In fact, it's a
rather archaic option which is pretty much meaningless anymore...

But as to your question - There is no feature for the purpose of changing
the color of the area that surrounds the "page" when in Print Layout View,
which I assume is what you are referring to.

OTOH, if you mean the actual color of the page, you can use Format>
Background & pick a color in any given doc. It's primarily intended for
creating web pages, though, not for regular docs.

If I've missed your point entirely please post back with more specific
details & don't forget to indicate what version of Word you have.

Thank you to both of you, that answers my question! It was a change in background colour whilst in page layout view that I wanted; oh well!

:)
