How do you cancel a section break?

You can't 'cancel' a section break, but you can delete it. The simplest way
to do this is probably to switch to draft/normal view where it will be
displayed as a line, select it then delete it.
Or
Click the ¶ button (CTRL+SHIFT+8) to toggle the display to show formatting
marks, then again select and delete.
Or
Use the replace function (CTRL+H) to replace ^b with nothing.
