How do you change the hotkey for the Research pane from Alt-Click?

In Office 2003,

I would like to change, disable or uninstall the research Alt-Click
feature. I do not use research and the Alt-Click has just got to go! Thanks
for any info you might have.

I, too, would like to get rid of it - I find it intensely annoying but,
AFAIK, it's not possible so I live with it and am slowly getting better at
avoiding Alt-Click.

Hi Mary,

That does not offer any way to turn off the Research Task Pane or even
disconnect it from Alt+Click. I have to repeat that I don't believe there is
any way to get rid of this feature.

About half an hour after posting I used the Thesaurus which, of course, uses
the Research Pane. It's not the Research Pane, or even the Task Pane itself,
which bothers me - it's that it seems to want to impose itself on you. I'd
like to decide for myself when and how I use the Task Pane.

All I really want to be able to do is customize the 'hotkey' but you can't
do that for the keyboard/mouse combination. Can't speak for the OP of course
:)

You have hit the nail on the head. We have no say in it, nor can we change
how it is used ... Tony, thanks for the replys and your insight!

I use Alt-Shift-LeftClick about 100 times a day to select a Word column from
the cursor to the cllick point. Before Office 2003, that is. No luck in KB,
forums, or elsewhere. This has got to go.
