Are you using the Microsoft Office Test Drive that came with your computer?

Hi Dave,

and that's also the reason why you can't uncheck that box or modify it: it
is one of the limitations of the Test Drive itself. The Test Drive
automatically leaves your messages on the server, in case you decide not to
use Entourage any longer after the Test Drive has expired. In the full
version, you can change these settings.

Here's the official statement, by the way, from an article called "More
Information about Office 2004 Test Drive"
While you are using Entourage, copies of messages that you receive from a POP
mail account are stored on the server. That way, you can still receive them in
your previous e-mail program.
