How do you change the shift number 2 key from " to @?

I need to tell my mother how to get the @ sign on her keyboard. Shift 2 is
now set with a quotation mark. She just got the computer and this must be a
default but I don't know how to change it

Thanks

Go into the Control Panel and look for the keyboard settings. Change the
regional language.

Some specifics for you. Like JoAnn, I guess you must have the wrong keyboard
layout selected by default. These instructions may not fit perfectly if
you're not using Vista, but I think you can figure it out from them :

1. Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options
2. Keyboards and Languages Tab
3. Try to set the "default" language at the top to English United States.
4. If it's not an option, use the list underneath to add "English (United
States)", then try again.
