How do you clear a language used for spell check?

Using Word 2003, it automatically set the language for spell check to both
English and French. The document is only written in English, so spell check
highlights correct English words because they are being checked against a
French dictionary.

Open the document that has this problem. Press Ctrl+A to select all of
the text. Click on Tools | Language | Set Language | Mark selected text
as: English | uncheck the "Detect language automatically" and "Do not
check spelling or grammar" boxes | Default | OK. If you are prompted to
save changes to your Normal.dot global template when you close Word, say
yes.
