How do you copy a office 2000 PST file and retain E Mail folders?

I backed up an Office 2000 Outlook PST file due to a computer replacement and
upgrade to XP. I seem to only have the contacts that were part of the PST
file and not the E Mails that were saved there. I'm baffeled as to what
happened to the Inbox contents, sent items, etc. Any one with any answers?
