Hi SizzleMaster,
Deleting a "vanilla" resource that's never done anything does work. Even
if the person is on one or more project teams it's you are OK as far as the
Enterprise Resource Global is concerned and the individual project
schedules. The record is removed from the Enterprise Global and the
resource records for each project no longer have a RES_EUID plus the
RES_NAME has a deletion comment appended to it ... so you see that's it
deleted in the Resource View of Project Professional.
HOWEVER ....
I had the following issues with deleting a resource after upgrading to
ProjectServer 2003:
1. The MSP_Web_Resources record is NOT deleted. It is switched to a
ProjectServer Account (if it was an NT Account originally) and the RES_EUID
value is set to null. So there is still a PWA login left hanging around.
2. Leaves all old MSP_Web_Assignments records with the WRES_ID of the
"orphaned" record left in MSP_WEB_RESOURCES (item #1). So these are
basically "orphaned" as well.
3. If the deleted resource was the project owner on any projects(WRES_ID
value in MSP_WEB_PROJECTS), they are left as well. However, when you go to
Project Center you see the first person (alphabetically) from the
MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table as the owner. Even though inspection of the
MSP_WEB_PROJECTS table shows a different WRES_ID !!
