How do you get form menus to update or change images?

I'm using forms to create a template using drop down menus. Is it possible to
have images in a document change based on a selection from one such drop down
menu?

Possible, yes. It would require macro code that basically
- unprotects the document
- inserts the picture appropriate to the selection in the dropdown
- reprotects the document without losing user input
