How do you get "Merge to Fax" working?

I have Outlook 2003 & WinXP Pro, and I know that 'Merge to Fax' does not
work the way it's supposed to. I've checked out KB826838 and KB282550, but
they're really not much help. To include my signature I either a) can't or
b) have to merge the fax as an attachment and *repeatedly* click "Yes"
(after 5 seconds) for every recipient. I cannot customize the fax cover
sheet (all it contains is the fax number, not the recipient's name) and I
must edit the fax numbers to be in the "one up" format required by MS Fax -
making them useless anywhere else.

What I do not understand is why I cannot find an add-in or 3rd party fax
program that *will* integrate with Outlook & Word. I tried a couple of the
programs on Slipstick, but they do not provide the merge to fax capability
I'm looking for. I have also written Microsoft ([email protected], as
well as at http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp) to request
that they correct the bugs in Office by finishing it.

Any suggestions on how to get this feature working? TIA,

Mike

Have you tried using the Express ClickYes utility (you can find a link to
this program at Slipstick) to click that Yes button for you? I know it's
not an ideal solution but at least you wouldn't have to babysit the
operation...

I downloaded that but haven't installed it yet. My concern is that it won't
speed up the process, since it still has to wait for the "Yes" button to
become available. I have contacted Microsoft about this issue (and got a
response); if other applications can use the correct code to send email
without the security prompt, why can't Word? This doesn't fix the 'one up'
format needed for fax numbers, but it'd be a step in the right direction.

I'm also thinking there's a way to get the fax transport to render graphics
(and I could use HTML and not worry about the prompts), but haven't been
able to figure out how.
