How do you insert smart art graphic to word document?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I'm new to word 08 and I'm trying to insert a graphic but it's not letting me click on it. Is there something I need to download?

Take a look at the title bar of the document & you'll see that you're in
Compatibility Mode. That means that you're using a document that is in the
older .doc file format which does not support SmartArt graphics.

Use File> Save As to save a copy in 2008 .docx format & you should be OK.
