After reviewing an attachment I want to send it back to the originator with
changes. How do I keep the attachment in the reply without having to save it
somewhere then attach it to the reply?
You are NOT making changes to the attachment in the original e-mail.
There is no file in that e-mail. There is a text-encoded MIME part that
holds the content of the original file. For you to edit that content
means it had to get saved to a file. You could save the file to the
hard disk, edit it, and then attach that changed file to a new e-mail
sent to the original sender. If you edit the attachment, Outlook has to
first save it to a file on the hard disk under its hidden OLK* folder.
So if you want to send the changed file, you'll have to navigate to that
hidden folder to attach the changed file.
You are not editing the attachment. You are editing a file. So send
the edited file.
