How do you keep Outlook from automatically adding a "1" for the country code

How do you keep Outlook from automatically adding a "1" for the
country code in contact when you are dailing the fax number? I
checked the dialing options and it is NOT checked.

Have you tried not specifying an area code for the intended person? IOW,
place the entire number in the phone number field and leave the area code
blank.
