How do you make only certain info appear on a slide?

I am helping with a presentation and want only certain info to come up on a slide when i first click the mouse--like a bar of info comes across and then another and another whenever you click the mouse. All of the bars would be on one slide. I knew how to do this on powerpoint when I used it about 5 years ago but can't remember how to do it now--please help! Thank you!

What you want to investigate is Custom Animation - see the Help topic on the
topic: animate text & graphics.

It's pointless to offer anything more since you didn't specify which version
of PPt you're using. If you have any specific questions after reviewing the
