how do you make publisher w3c compatable?

My website that I designed through Microsoft publisher is not w3c compatable.
How can I make the changes so that people browsing the web using different
browsers can view the information on my website?

You can't really change the way Publisher works, but you can workaround some
of the cross browser problems. Post the version of Publisher your use, the
URL of the pages you are having problems with, and describe the problems and
we will try to offer some solutions and some setting changes that might
help.

Some people have no problems with their Pub 2003 generated sites being
viewed in FireFox and other browsers, and then there are sites like yours...
I have not been able to figure out specifically why.

Here are some things to do that might help. I would suggest that as you take
these steps, then Publish to the Web, to a folder on your hard drive,
perhaps your desktop, where you can find the files easily. Then open FireFox
and browse to the *.*htm files and open them to test.

First of all make sure you are using the Publish to the Web, instead of File

Save As a web page.

Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and untick "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG..." and test your output.

Then try switching the default Encoding from what ever it is to Unicode
(UTF8), Western European (ISO), and Western European (Windows), and test
your output each time.

Hopefully one of those steps will make a difference, and then you should
plan on either reducing and optimizing your images with a third party image
editing program before you insert them, and/or compressing the images.

Your images are oversized and take a long time to load even in IE...

Try the steps above and let us know which solved the problem...he

Oh yeah...run the Design Checker tool too, to see if that spots a problem...

Besides David's advice.

Blinking objects, overlapping objects, too many boxes, scrolling "times
square" boxes, moving GIFS, all go to make it unreadable to a person
using a screen reader.

A picture of someone sitting at a desk would not tell everyone that is
the link to email you. and as it is only a picture a screen reader would
be dumbfounded!

KISS (Keep it Simple St****.) is a good idea or provide a link to a text
only version would help.

I went under tools / options / and deselected the Rely on VML and then I
changed my encoding to western european ISO. Works great.

I had a problem with a publisher WEB site in Firefox http://www.lrcd.net. I
tried the suggestions posted above with no luck, publisher 2007 doesn't have
a "use VML" selection. I changed the encoding and allowed PNG picture files.
The suggestion about ungrouping solved most of the problems in the body of
the WEB site. (all but one section of one page) I Have a menue down the left
site of all the pages that wouldn't work though. I placed a hot link on each
of the menu items on each of the pages and this solved the problem with the
menu. I did the same for the two links that weren't working on one of the
sub-pages. Everything seems to work fine now with both explorer and firefox.

You should optimize your images - your pages are too heavy, viewers with
slow connections won't wait.

You'll not get Pub webs to validate due to their proprietary code.
