I have been looking around the MS site and on the internet and still can't
find out how you move the navigation bar (Folders and Files) from the top of
the page to the side (left or right vertically)?

Is this in OneNite 2007?

I do not undertsand yoir situation.
I never saw the navigation pane in the top. It's alway at the side -
either right or left side.
If left or right cab be set in the Options-dialog:
"Tools | Options | View".

No you misunderstand, that is the option to move the pages of each section or
folder from appearing on the left side or right side.

What I am talking about is the navigation bar that lets you select the
different sections or folders that you create within the Notebook itself such
as "Archive", "General", etc...

When you initially install one note, this navigation bar is on the left side
of the screen (vertically aligning all the sections/folders). I moved it to
the top (so they are listed horizontally) and selected a setting that made
this bar not being able to be moved like the other command bars. I now don't
remember where this setting is (I've looked everywhere) and want to move it
back to the left side of the page now.

There are *two* options for what to place in the left and the right
side:
a) the navigation bar,
b) the tabbed pages.

The navigation bar shows all of the open notebooks either maximized
(unfolded) or minimized (using the little double arrows in the top of
the bar).
It can only be shown in the left side or right side and there is no way
to move it to the top.

In addition above the pages there is a horizontal bar with tabbed pages
for the open notebook showing the section groups and the sections.
This section bar can not be moved at all.

It seems that you are mixing the latter and the navigation bar.

NO! This is simply impossible. There are NO settings at all to move the
navigation bar elsewhere. It can only be on the left side or the right
side.
I now don't remember
where this setting is (I've looked everywhere) and want to move it
back to the left side of the page now.

As said before: It seems that you are just mistaking things.

Pls see following screenshots.
ftp://ftp.hs-heilbronn.de/vdb/onenote/ON_Screenshot_1.jpg
ftp://ftp.hs-heilbronn.de/vdb/onenote/ON_Screenshot_2.jpg

The first one shows the ON window with the navigation bar unfolded
(maximized), the other one with the bar minimized.
Compare it with what you have and open the bar by clocking on the
arrows.

I'd hope we get a bit closer.
In case not, you might mail me a screenshot. If doing so, pls drop a
note in here (normally I hardly ever check the mail-account used for
these newsgroups).

Thanks Ben and Rainald,

That was it, I am using 2003 and it doesn't support multiple notebooks, so
that left sided bar showing all the notebooks isn't there. I got confused
between 2003 and 2007!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback. It was just a mystery ...

IMHO it would be high time to make the move to ON 2007.
You someway punish yourself day by day when staying with the old
version.
