how do you print a publisher file as a poster and smaller handout.

I am using Publisher 2003. I have a designed a document that is 11 x17. I
need the same document as a smaller 8.5 x 11 or 8.5 x 14 document. Do I have
to create another document? Or is there a way I can use the 11 x17 document.
When I go to FILE - Page Set up - Paper layout. I can change the size of
the documentment the only thing that changes is the paper size the design
(text boxes and photos) remain the same size.

They do not have the same proportions. The ratios are:
11 x 17 = 1:1.545
8½ x 11 = 1:1.294
8½x 14 = 1:1.647

The best you can do is convert it to a .pdf file and then print it from
Adobe Reader to fit whatever paper size you want.

JoAnn thanks for the suggestion. I have converted the document to a PDF. I
am having trouble getting Adobe reader to print the document properly. I
suspect it is because I have not done anything about the proportions. Where,
when and what do I change the proportions?

Is the PDF you have a one- or multi-page PDF?

If multi, you need to recreate your PDF as a one-page PDF. Adjust the paper
size in the properties of your PDF driver.

If one-, you need to look in the Print dialog in Adobe Reader. There's an
option to scale the page to fit the printer margins.
