I'm trying to install something and I can't unless I shut down word. How do you shut down word on a imac?

it says I have 7 files open.

I've just gotten this imac, first apple so I don't know what I'm doing.

Command + Q. (Or: Word>Quit Word if you want to do it from the menu, but
nobody on a Mac ever does...)

If it won't let go, it has hung. Use Force Quit (look this up in the Apple
Help for details).
