How do you strike out a word or phrase?

Sarah

I am typing out a document using Publisher. I need to show changes to the
document but need to show what was there prior to the changes. I do not see
how to strike out the words? Help!

Publisher doesn't have a strike through option; you can use the line tool
and draw a line through the text.

Sarah,
Depending on which version of Publisher you are using, you can manually
introduce the strikethrough tags <strike> and </strike>.

In Pub2000 you would do this by launching the webpage on your local browser
and click on >View >Source then find the text in the NotePad document then
enclose the appropriate text between the two above tags.

In later Pub versions that use CSS, you would create a new text-style class
by copying and pasting the relevant original style and adding the <strike>
tag, then you would add the newly created class attribute to the relevant
part of the text.

Sounds complicated? Perhaps someone else, here, can explain this more
clearly and simply.

FWIW Don, I am very under whelmed with Pub 2010. Besides the fact that the
web building functionality is being deprecated, they have adapted the new
"ribbon" menus, which I don't like. All in all, I can't see many reasons to
"downgrade" to Pub 2010. I think I will stay with Pub 2000 for my web pages
mostly, and Pub 2003 for my print publications. Obviously, I am not that big
of fan of Pub 2007 either, but your experience might vary.

Hi David,

I'll be staying with 2000 for it fills my needs theses days. I no longer do
the publishing chores for the lodge; new young blood in now in the drivers
seat.
Maybe in the future I'll take another turn at the newsletter, posters,
postcards and such.

Hi Don,

Good on you.

I have stuck with Pub 2000 and will continue to do so until it no longer
works. At this point, I can build just about any feature I want in websites
with 2000.

It's true, there are easier web-building programs. But where's the challenge?

Geoffrey,

Easier web-building programs?

From the Microsoft Publisher 2000 Companion booklet...

"Five-minute Web site-creation With Publisher, you can create a Web site
in just minutes -- complete with hyperlinks and graphics (even
animation!)--without having to understand HTML."

But, that was a statement made ten years ago; website programs have gotten
better.

How can any new program that you have to learn be easier than a program you
already know how to use. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Like you and Don I
have figured out how to use Pub 2000 and my sites are cross browser
compatible, so I will stay with what I know for now.

Good luck to both of you.
