How do you turn a query with parameters into a report with paramet

I have created a database that can query different aspects of the database.
For example, I can query by serial number or by date or by assembly number.
The query works fine and askes the appropriate questions when you enter it.
But when I turn it into a report, the report askes more than the question I
wanted to. It will ask for data for all the entrys in the query. Instead of
asking one question it askes all questions. How do I turn the query into a
report that askes for the appropriate parameters for the particular report?
