How do you turn off "Reading Layout" in Microsoft Office Word 2003?

Everytime I open a document Office 2003 the it defaults to the
"reading layout" view.

Even if I change the view back to "normal" the next time I open a new
document it reverts to "Reading Layout".

I can't say that I've found the "reading layout" view to be very
helpful with the documents I typically use. I would like to turn it
off or at least change it so it's not the default.

Thanks,
Carlos.

Greetings,
Go to Tools on the menu
Then Options
Click on the General tab
uncheck box "Allow starting in Reading Layout"
Your documents should then open in whatever layout you last saved as, other
than Reading Layout.

Reading layout bites. I hate it.

There are multiple ways of getting rid of the reading layout view when
opening a word doc from an email.

1. When the doc loads in word just press the "esc" key.
2. Save the attachment to your computer then open
3. In word goto Tools | Options | General | then take the check out of
"allow
starting in Reading Layout"
4. You can also click the close button on the top of the word doc or
(alt+C)
